Mobile Payment? Credit Cards?

With the increase in the usage of smart phones app developers are working on mobile payment solutions. Using smart phones to do payments are getting more and more popular, companies like Paypal, Square, etc. On this website a question about the app is asked and an answer is provided by the CIO. The first question is what types of businesses will benefit having this technology? The CIO answered this question that businesses that are small or have never had a credit card acceptance are more beneficial than those huge companies, but the small ones are more beneficial. Second question: What are the benefits of using these mobile payments? There are many benefits of this technology in which the main one is that you are able to track your credit cards usage. One more benefit is that you are able to pay faster and you are able to pay in the name of your business and spend more time talking about each other's businesses rather than spend time paying. Third question: How is the security, smartphones are very risky. Smartphones are risky, however there will be a new developed security system called P2PE which will ensure the security of the smart phone. There are no worries about securities because app developers are following the guide lines that are required to make it safe. Other companies also states that no information will be recorded on you smartphone and the reader so if someone did hack in there will be no information at all. There are two more questions on this website but I think it only relates to the business so if you would like to read it check the link below.

Major Concepts

  • As technologies are getting more advance the usage of smartphones are increasing. We are doing many shopping's through the phone, so this technology would help you use your credit card on your phone itself.
  • Benefits it will have on the business is that they don't need to worry about not accepting some credit cards, so the small businesses will have a beneficial ideal.
  • Benefits you will have to your self is that you are able to keep track of your buying and you will have the bill on your smartphone, and it's easier and faster to pay with this technology.
  • There are no worries about the security because these applications won't record any information you input into the smartphone or scanner.

Potential Strengths/Advantages

There are many advantages that this author have is that, I like the idea that he has a question and there is a long answer to the question that has been asked which I find really good and he found more than one answer from different companies that offer this kind of paying. I also find this article really organized because every heading connects to each other. I also find his writing very persuasive after reading the title.

Potential Problems/Limitations/Disadvantages

One mainly disadvantage that this author has is that he didn't describe how the scanner when, where, how, this technology is going to function. There is no information of the release date and what price is it going to cost, or are we allowed to keep the scanner to ourselves or only businesses are allowed to have this. If he had included this it would be more knowledgeable.

Discussion Questions

In this article I didn't get how this technology will run on the smart phone I would like to know how it will work and how it connects to a smartphone. I would also like to discuss with the class how good or bad it is to buy some stuff on the internet, is it trust able or not.
