CES 2014

CES also know as the Consumer Electronics Show, where companies showcase their new electrical products, some being old and new complete inventions. During the event there were many gadgets that seemed to be spotlighted in CES 2014. In the field of education and health robots had played a huge role called Moss which I think is the Lego of the future generation because you can customize the robot and built it into different shapes. Hospitality for kids also played a huge role because Teddy the Guardian a teddy bear that is able to measure the pulse, and blood pressure which is a really interesting invention to use in a kids section in the hospital. Smart toothbrushes also showed up because now the Kolibree is able to report your brushing report true the smartphone. Its another step to toothbrushes because you can check your progress. The invention "Mother", as you can already tell by the name acts like a robotic baby sitter because there is a main device and "cookies", that stick to stuck like medicine bottles or toothbrushes that tell you to do things that your mother usually teach which is an interesting invention. In the field of Media and Utility, the Panono is a ball covered with lenses that enable a 360 degree angle camera which has 72 megapixels which is considered to be an awesome picture taking device with high costs of $600. External flash devices using the headphone jack on the phone appeared used for phones that don't have flash, and act as a flash light costing $59. Another flash lighting devices is the ZeroHour which is rechargeable and has the abilities of waterproof, impact proof, bomb proof, and even act as a power bank for gadgets. In the field of mobility developers focused on charging cables that are small, light, and compact just for the sake of traveling. The voice park is another invention helping to park in certain places reducing traffic. It gives the nearest parking spot and reduces your time finding a park place.

Potential Strengths/Advantages

The strength of this article is that it listed very interesting inventions that for sure grabbed my attention to read more about them because they're very short but give the major details about that gadget. I also see that the language is really easy to understand so I'm able to read to the article fast and be able to pick up everything. Each gadget has a picture below it so I'm able to visualize the invention and picture how it works so its pretty good. The author did a really good job displaying the inventions.

Potential Problems/Limitations/Disadvantages

The huge one disadvantage that I need to make here is the picks of the invention, I've been following the CES 2014 news and saw different inventions that I thought was more awesome than these gadgets. No computer or smart devices were introduced. The best CES invention Razer Nabu was not listed which disappointed me because a such stylish useful wristband is not listed in the list. Even the gaming field was not on the list so the author left out many huge sections in the article. Below is a link to read more about the Razer Nabu.

Discussion Questions

For the discussion question I would like to give my own opinion on the inventions listed above. For the Moss I think that it is a perfect start for a new Lego system because you can be creative in robotics and it could be something very useful for kids to experience with. Teddy the Guardian also is a very useful because it reduces the scare in kids entering the hospital, so now when a parent takes a kid to the hospital they just hug a teddy bear and everything is done. The toothbrush also seems interesting because parents are able to keep track of their kids brushing report but in the future I hope to see a toothbrush that can just brush our teeth automatically by not moving our hands. The mother is very interesting because for kids who don't have mothers with this invention I think they're able to have a feeling of how a mother is like. For the Panono it can be really good for taking the pictures of the protesters in Thailand by just throwing a ball in the sky without letting anyone know you're actually take a picture. I'd say it can also be very useful for paparazzi. The iBlazr or the add on flash is my most favorite on the list because I've been looking for this due to my phone is lacking a flash so I'm unable to take pictures at night this invention really is gonna make smart phones that lack the flash turn out to be powerful in cheap prices. The ZeroHour flashlight is really compact too because when I came back from the military camp I knew that this thing is really good because not only is it a flash light it can charge a phone too so my bag can safe a lot of space. The smaller charging the devices is nothing interesting for me becauseI don't really care how my plug is and I don't know why it is in the list. The Voice Park is for sure the invention that has the biggest impact because I think it is able to reduce traffic and see the parking spots. This invention is a beast because you can know where to park and not to park. This for sure will reduce the traffic in Bangkok. For my teacher I would really like him to check out Razer's products on the link above because they're really making a huge new branch not only for gaming which is really cool.
